With St Edward's church at Evenlode dominating the skyline, 50037 Illustrious heads south with the 1A57 16:15 Hereford to Paddington service on 5 April 1987. This was a classic photographic location in the 1980s before the bushes took over and there was plenty of warning of a trains approaching from this direction. Obviously a Class 50 could be heard leaving Moreton-in-Marsh over two miles away, but just in case a 47 was being used you could walk a few steps to the left and then actually see Moreton-in-Marsh station at the end of the long straight (binoculars helped!). |
