Now this is what you call proper winter weather! 50037 Illustrious emerges from the freezing fog, and comes to a halt at Kingham station on 19 January 1985, with the 1A75 07:05 Hereford to Paddington service. With local roads in a treacherous state, with packed snow and patches of black ice, it is interesting to note that this train was running exactly to time. Somehow I doubt whether First Great Western would be able to achieve that nowadays. More likely the train would be cancelled! |
