50038 Formidable passes Ascott-under-Wychwood on 6 June 1979 with the 1C74 18:00 Paddington to Hereford service. It has just traversed the 14 mile single track section from Wolvercote Junction and has held up Class 117 L410 traveling in the opposite direction with a Moreton-in-Marsh to Paddington ECS. Despite this picture being taken from the 'wrong' side for the sun, it is still one of my favourite Cotswold Line Class 50 pictures, as it is one of the very few shots I managed to get of an unfreburbished 50 on the route. Also, it shows the now lifted siding, that extended alongside the platform. In addition to all that the lighting is superb. Good old Praktica PLC2 and Kodachrome 64 combination! |
