50043 Eagle arrives at Charlbury on 27 March 1982 with the 15:00 Paddington to Hereford service. The one unchanging part of this picture is the Brunel designed grade 2 listed station building. The last unrefurbished Class 50 was called to Doncaster for rebuilding the following year and it is only in recent years that Cotswold Line passengers have enjoyed more luxurious accommodation than the Mk 2 coaches pictured here, with the mass introduction of HSTs on the route after years of being a predominantly DMU worked line. It is also doubtful that with the possible exception of the Volvo that any of the cars in the station car park are still on the road!
