50043 Eagle pulls away from Moreton-in-Marsh station on 2 July 1986 with the 1B56 18:07 Paddington to Hereford 'Cathedrals Express'. Very unusually for the time, it was running twenty minutes late, something which Cotswold Line passengers would come to expect in the First Great Western era two decades later! Eagle is seen here in possibly the best Class 50 livery - large logo with black roof and red buffer beams. This particular machine wore this variant during 1986 and 1987, between appearing in standard large loco and revised Network SouthEast colours. This view is no longer possible as a Budgens supermarket has been constructed on the right with a car park in the immediate foreground. |
