50046 Ajax passes Chilson on 29 May 1983 with the 1A25 16:15 Hereford to Paddington, one of the few trains that made up the very sparse Sunday service on the Cotswold Line in the 1980s. 50046 had only just returned from refurbishment at Doncaster at this time, but already the pristine light grey painted roof has become black with soot - showing just what an impractical choice of colour it was, at least with the basic cleaning regime in place at the time.
