50046 Ajax has just traversed the Westbury avoiding line, and is about the rejoin the original West of England route at Fairwood Junction on 11 March 1986. It is working the 1C25 09:40 Paddington to Penzance service. The old PW hut between the two routes was gradually falling to pieces, and would be demolished completely the following year.
