50046 Ajax leaves Oxford station on 1 August 1986 with the 1A18 07:00 Hereford to Paddington 'Cathedrals Express'. This was a relatively easy diagram for a Class 50, as it did nothing once it reached the capital until it was time to return with the 1B56 18:07 Paddington to Hereford. The same applied to the other Cotswold Line diagram at the time, the 1A10 06:00 Hereford to Paddington, and 1B46 17:00 return. 50046 acquired this black roofed version of the large logo livery quite early on, and kept it right through to its withdrawal in 1991.
