A sight that would give modern day health & safety officials a fit! 50047 Swiftsure's train is not on fire, but track workers are just starting to burn off the lineside vegetation, while trains pass by at full line speed! 50047 is working the 1A50 (very appropriate!) 09:32 Penzance to Paddington service, seen here passing Edington on 11 March 1986. Although the smoke is largely drifting across the fields in the background at this point, this is nothing compared to what happened when they lit both sides of the cutting in the foreground. The whole scene then disappeared in smoke!
