Unfortunately I never did get a picture of a Class 50 towing a failed HST, but this is the best thing, a Class 50 running in place of a HST. 50048 Dauntless passes South Moreton on 6 August 1988 with the 1A43 12:40 Bristol Temple Meads to Paddington service. This was running half an hour late, which probably has more to do with leaving Bristol late, rather than being unable to keep up with the HST's 125mph timings.
