Castle Class 4-6-0 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe returned to the Cotswold Line on 20 October 2012, with the Vintage Trains 1Z53 15:50 Oxford to Tyseley 'Cotswold Explorer' railtour. Unfortunately, near Ascott-under-Wychwood the train was brought to a stand by a report that a train in the opposite direction had hit an obstruction. Therefore it was running 40 minutes late by the time it passed Lyneham, and any hope of some weak sunshine had long passed!
