Extensive renovation work is underway on the Grade II listed station building at Ellesmere Port on 11 March 2014, as 507003 slowly pulls out of the station with the 2Y21 15:42 Ellesmere Port to Ellesmere Port (via Liverpool) Merseyrail service. The unit had worked in as the 2Y18 14:12 Ellesmere Port to Ellesmere Port, and after a short break in platform 1, is now returning from whence it came, running wrong line for a short distance before regaining the correct line underneath the adjacent roadbridge.
