With the western escarpment of the Cotswold Hills dominating the background, Castle Class 4-6-0 5080 Defiant arrives at Winchcombe station on 26 August 1990 with the late running 14:00 Toddington to Gretton Meadow service. On the right the station building is under construction. The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway acquired Monmouth Troy station building in 1987, and painstaking dismantled it and reassembled it at Winchcombe. The original station building had unfortunately been demolished in 1965.
