Classic heritage DMU meets classic heritage locomotive at New Mills South Junction on 27 April 1984. The 10:45 Manchester Piccadilly to Cleethorpes service, comprising a  Class 124 four car set led by 51955, and a two car Class 101, passes 40174 waiting in the loop with an engineer's train. Certainly not ideal lighting, with the sun virtually head on, but I definitely haven't got any other pictures of one of the stylish Trans Pennine units passing a Class 40!
