An enthusiasts notes down the numbers (53738, 59262 & 53693) of the Class 120 working the 09:07 Birmingham New Street to Lincoln St Marks service at Water Orton on 9 March 1985. Yet another incorrect destination blind. The train does go to Derby, but on a Saturday carried on to Lincoln. This picture shows the railway in the days before palisade fencing and restricted access to the lineside. Note the open gate! Unfortunately, whilst the enthusiast standing on the old pallet was no danger to anyone, people with less common sense now have to be prevented from getting anywhere near the lines. |
