Class 128 DPU 55995 passes through Radley station on 20 July 1989 with the 4A17 16:20 Paddington to Oxford parcels. This was running nearly an hour late, which was very fortunate, as at the booked time I was still driving to the location. Unfortunately I have very few pictures of these distinctive units, and with none of the class of ten escaping the cutter's torch, I am not going to get any more! Delivered in green, and then repainted blue, this was their final livery, and it certainly made them stand out, even in the colourful Network SouthEast era. 55995 was withdrawn, along with all the other surviving Western Region 128s, in November 1990. It was cut up at MC Metals, Glasgow in April 1991. |
