Considerable quantities of timber are imported through Goole Docks, although sadly none of this traffic leaves the port by rail. This is a pity, as this view shows just how close the timber gets to the rails! With a background dominated by stacks of timber and dockside cranes, 56031 has just deposited a rake of wagons in the siding, after arriving at the docks with the 6D50 07:28 steel train from Rotherham on 6 December 1997. It would then pick up a rake up of empty wagons, before leaving as the 6J50 11:34 back to Rotherham.
