56049 Robin of Templecombe 1938-2013 passes through Charlbury station in the gathering darkness on 29 June 2024 with the 6C97 20:56 Hinksey to Moreton-in-Marsh (via a reversal at Worcester) long welded rails. This was for overnight Cotswold Line track replacement. It was running 14 minutes late, not because of a late departure, but due to the impossibility of running to the correct time, due to the 1P39 20:03 Worcester Foregate Street to Paddington GWR service still occupying the single line from here to Wolvercote Junction. According to the timings, the trains would meet on the single near Hanborough!
