Unlike some photographers, I very rarely take pictures of light engine movements, as I believe that generally they just look ridiculous. However, as I was already at Uffington on 27 August 2008 and a Class 56 was due, I made an exception! 56311 passes the site of Uffington loops with the 0Z57 12:35 Portbury Dock to Derby Fastline route learner, in preparation for a forthcoming coal service from Portbury Dock. The appearance of the Hanson Traction 56 in lieu of the more normal Fastline loco on this working was a bonus. This seems to be my favoured location for the very few light engine workings that I photograph, having seen 47840 here in February 2007.
