60046 Crofton 31 March 2025

Bridge 99 on the Kennet & Avon Canal near Crofton has long been used by photographers, as it provides an excellent vantage point for down trains, although not unfortunately now for up trains. The bridge, which serves no useful purpose since the construction of the railway, used to be overgrown and with a missing parapet, but in 2017 volunteers restored the parapet, and installed this plaque giving details of the bridge. 60046 William Wilberforce passes by on 31 March 2025 with the 6Z60 10:34 Willesden DC Rail Sidings to Merehead Quarry stone empties.
