You don't see many steel coil trains in the Thames Valley! 60097 Pillar passes through Appleford station on 5 June 1997 with an unidentified northbound working. I had seen the train parked in the loop at Milton as I drove to this spot, so it has clearly come from South Wales. Surely this can't be the diverted 6M76 00:40 Margam to Dee Marsh, re-routed via Oxford. If for some reason the Hereford line was closed, it would probably come this way to avoid the Lickey Incline. |
