King Class 4-6-0 6024 King Edward I gets under way from the Banbury water stop with the Didcot to Derby 'Royal Venturer' railtour on 24 November 1990. Diehard steam aficionados were not best pleased during the 1980s & 1990s with the use of former Class 25 locos as ETS generators, but this certainly adds a period feel to the photo now! Ethel (Electric train heat ex locomotive) 97252 (the former 25314) keeps the passengers warm, while 6024 does all the work moving the train.
