66617 passes the site of Shrivenham station on 11 August 2014 with the 6L35 05:36 Cardiff Tidal to Dagenham scrap empties. Obviously a regular on this train, I had photographed it on the same working just over a month previously. Network Rail have recently cleared the old platforms here of all vegetation, in readiness for the forthcoming electrification, therefore I was keen to get a picture before the masts get in the way. Unfortunately, the light is still very head on when this train runs, but luckily the weak sun between rain showers provided the ideal lighting, with Swindon presumably getting a heavy downpour under the dark clouds in the background. Luckily the train was running exactly on time, as the rain was coming my way! In view of the dodgy weather I didn't wait for the two next freights, which was just as well, as the 6M50 Westbury to Bescot was cancelled, and the 4L31 Bristol to Felixstowe freightliner ran two hours late!
