66617 Shrivenham (Ashbury Crossing) 2 August 2015

Things do not always go to plan with railway photography! On Sunday 2 August 2015, the 6V82 13:54 Tunstead to Westbury Lafarge cement tanks was diverted via Oxford and the Vale of White Horse, due to the line being closed at Bath for electrification works. Passing Shrivenham in the late evening, this would allow a sunlit picture with the sun on the front from the footbridge on the site of Ashbury Crossing. However, not only did the sun disappear into a large bank of cloud, but more importantly the train was over 40 minutes late. Admittedly this was an improvement on being over an hour late at Oxford, but it still meant that it was nearly dark when it passed me. So purely for the record, as cement trains through the Vale of White Horse are something of a novelty, here is 66617 passing Ashbury Crossing at 21:05, taken at 1/500 sec f2.8 at ISO3200.
