The golden colour of the oak leaves, lit by the late afternoon sun, match the orange Genesee & Wyoming livery of 66623, as it approaches Collins Lane level crossing, Purton, on 6 November 2020 with the diverted 6B11 12:21 Hayes & Harlington to East Usk Yard stone empties. This was travelling this way because its normal route via the Severn Tunnel was closed for bridge reconstruction at Patchway. Although there is plenty of autumn foliage in this picture, there would be a lot more further north, when the train reached the aptly named 'Golden Valley' near Stroud. However, this late in the afternoon, virtually the entire valley would be in shade. |
