Superb early spring afternoon lighting at Thrupp on 7 March 2011 as 66706 Nene Valley passes by with the late running 6O96 10:27 Mountsorrel to Eastleigh ballast. This may appear to be a quiet rural location and is in fact surrounded by fields, but it can be surprisingly noisy. Kidlington Airport (recently ridiculously rebranded as London Oxford Airport!) is nearby and numerous private light aircraft keep taking off and going round in circuits (and seemingly following the railway line). There were at least three in the air at one point, which makes hearing an approaching train quite difficult. This is unfortunate, as you can't see very far down the line at this location!
