I have hardly ever seen a train stopped at the large signal gantry spanning the tracks at Denchworth, as trains traveling along the up relief line normally carry on to Wantage Road, unless of course there is another train ahead of it. Therefore I was surprised to see 66738 Huddersfield Town stopped at the signal on 20 August 2014 with the 6M40 11:56 Westbury to Stud Farm ballast empties. I had just arrived at the bridge, and an unexpected 'ying ying' noise as I walked up the road warned me what was happening. The train is pictured just as it starts to move away. |
