A million to one lucky photo opportunity at South Moreton (Didcot East) on 19 December 2014. Getting two freight trains running parallel right in front of your lens is unusual enough, and getting two Freightliner locos more unusual. However, when there are only seven locos in total in the 66/9 subclass, getting two of those is a miracle! To cap it all, they are consecutively numbered - amazing! 66955 with the 4L31 09:03 Bristol to Felixstowe North freightliner is rapidly overtaking 66956, which is working the 6X26 10:19 Hinksey to Eastleigh point carriers. Obviously I took a number of shots here as the trains passed each other, and whilst a slightly earlier picture where the shadow of 66955 does not obscure the wheels of 66956 is possibly better, I prefer this one, where the locos are very briefly running exactly parallel to each other.
