Unlike its inaugural mainline run two weeks earlier, the unique 8P 4-6-2 71000 Duke of Gloucester's 21 April 1990 Marylebone to Nottingham 'Mid-Day Scot' railtour took place in miserable conditions. It is seen here emerging from the mist at Bucknell, on the Chiltern Line, which at that time was still a single track backwater.
