73965 Des O'Brien & 73963 Janice very slowly approach a red signal at Uffington on 10 June 2023, whilst heading back from the seaside with the 1Z61 17:26 Weston-super-Mare to Ashford International GBRf staff charter. There were severe signalling problems in the area, and all trains were coming to a stand at the signal which was stuck on red. After a few minutes the 73s were authorised to proceed past the red signal. This caused some delay, but nothing like what happened shortly afterwards, with trains stacking up one behind the other, with delays exceeding an hour.
