Derby Lightweight 79900 stands at Loughborough Central station on 3 September 2022, prior to working the 2C22 13:10 service to Rothley, during the Great Central Railway's Autumn Diesel Running Weekend. Only two of these single car units were built. 79900 & 79901 were introduced in 1956 specifically for the Buckingham to Banbury line. After that service finished, 79901 was scrapped, but 79900 survived thanks to be taken into departmental use. It survived in that role as RDB975010 for over thirty years.
