Hydrogen fuel cell powered 799201 approaches Honeybourne on 9 February 2023 with the 5Q99 12:12 Evesham West Junction to Long Marston test run. The windows have been removed from the leading vehicle, as the hydrogen fuel cell equipment takes up most of the interior. Further development is planned to relocate the equipment underneath the vehicles. Putting relatively small diesel engines underneath these former Class 319 EMUs to make Class 769 bi-mode units was not a resounding success, so I hope they have more luck with the hydrogen equipment!
