A wave of acknowledgment from the driver to the signalman, as 800011 slowly gets under way again, after calling at Ascott-under-Wychwood on 20 June 2025 with the 1W33 16:58 Paddington to Great Malvern GWR service. This was running 68 minutes late, due to a lineside fire in the Acton area. Because of this very late running, it was terminated at Worcester Shrub Hill. I had gone here to photograph Ascott's only booked down stopping train, the 2E14 17:04 Didcot Parkway to Oxford, but as is often the case, that was cancelled. I have tried three times to photograph it, but such is the train's chronic unreliability, that I haven't yet managed it! At least GWR arranged for 1W33 to call at Ascott, so at least passengers from Oxford could get home, albeit 89 minutes late!
