With a train every 15 minutes, and with the loco on the southern end of the train, there were numerous pictures taken of the Class 73 hauled Gatwick Express trains, but naturally far fewer of the other less interesting end of the train. So here is a picture of Class 489 GLV 9106 passing Horley on 21 September 1991, leading the 17:05 Gatwick to Victoria service out of Gatwick station, with 73212 Airtour Suisse doing the pushing at the rear. The ten Class 489s were converted from Class 414 EMU driving cars, specifically for Gatwick Express duties. |
