9351 Minehead 17 September 2025

The Minehead signalman hands over the Minehead to Blue Anchor token to the crew of 2-6-0 9351 on 17 September 2025, prior to it working the 12:20 service to Bishops Lydeard. 9351 started life as 5101 Class 2-6-2T 5193. It was withdrawn in 1962, and was rescued from Barry scrapyard in 1979. When the loco arrived at the West Somerset Railway in 1998, the decision was taken to convert it to a tender engine, as the side tanks were so heavily corroded that conversion was the cheaper option. Apart from the slightly smaller boiler, the loco is now a 43xx Class 2-6-0.
