99 70 9131 005-9 & 99 70 9131 001-8 Shrivenham 16 February 2014

The bringer of doom (if you're a railway photographer), or the bringer of progress (if you're a passenger). Brand new Windhoff electrification units 99 70 9131 005-9 & 99 70 9131 001-8 pass Shrivenham on 16 February 2014 with the 6Z09 11:30 Swindon Transfer to Swindon Transfer (via Didcot) crew training run. This was the first of five round trips run during the day. These units (or factory trains, as Network Rail are calling them) will be used for the Great Western Mainline electrification. I had deliberately chosen this location, as the short train would just fit in the available gap in the bushes, and the side view would clearly show all the overhead line equipment onboard the vehicles.
