Botley Road Bridge in Oxford finally reopened to road traffic on 20 September 2026, after being closed since April 2023. This is the view looking west from Frideswide Square the following day. Network Rail originally said the road would only be closed for 18 months. The bridge has an additional foot of headroom compared to the old structure, which means the dip in the road (clearly evident in this picture) is even steeper. In addition to flooding problems, the old bridge was responsible on a couple of occasions for converting a double decker bus into an open top vehicle!
