Class 120 C616 (51790, 59681 & 51782) passes Marshfield on 28 April 1984 with the 08:30 Cardiff Central to Gloucester service. I have very few pictures of these Swindon built cross country DMUs, and this is about the best. The Western Region would dispose of its last Class 120 the following month, and although they lived on in Scotland for a few more years, the entire class had been withdrawn by 1989. For such a reasonably large fleet (194 vehicles), preservation has not been kind to the class, with just a single TSLRB vehicle (59276) surviving. As this is a centre coach, and not one of the distinctive driving cars, it effectively means the class is extinct. |
