The highlight of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway's 2016 Diesel Gala was the return to traffic of D6948, after an extensive renovation. 37248 had arrived on the railway in 2009, and after a period of use in its West Coast Rail 'sludge brown' livery, was transformed into its original 1964 condition by the hard work of a team of volunteers. It is pictured here on its first passenger outing during the gala - the 2C55 10:10 Toddington to Cheltenham Racecourse service on Friday 29 July 2016, passing Dixton just after the rain had stopped. |
