Oddington Level Crossing 26 April 1984

A historic view of Oddington, on the Oxford to Bicester line, when it was a sleepy backwater with just a couple of freight trains per day. Passenger trains had been withdrawn in 1967, and would not be reintroduced until 1987. This 26 April 1984 view shows Oddington level crossing, which was without barriers, and with a 10mph restriction for trains. The former crossing keeper's cottage still survives, but everything else has now changed. The single line of 95lb bullhead rail has been replaced by double track, and the level crossing replaced by a bridge.
