150121 passes Toton on 16 October 1986 with the 14:16 Leeds to Nottingham Regional Railways service. Toton was (and still is) a major freight hub, although by the 1980s a lot of the sidings were used for storage of withdrawn stock, as can be seen in the background. Passenger trains were very infrequent, but as this train called at Beeston, it used the chord between Meadow Lane and Attenborough Junctions, rather than taking the more direct route to Nottingham via Trowell Junction and Lenton North and Mansfield Junctions. |
