This picture clearly demonstrates the terrible state that some of the national railway network has now got into, now that Network Rail have seemingly given up any pretence at keeping lineside vegetation in check. 166217 & 166219 pass Chilson on 22 February 2017 with the 1W00 08:21 Paddington to Hereford GWR service. The large bush on the right is almost touching the train, and has been like that for years, presumably being pruned by the trains to the shape of the loading gauge! No wonder they have problems with leaves on the line in the autumn! Thirty years earlier this location was completely open, with nothing more than a few scattered small lineside bushes. |
