On 23 April 1997 there was a minor derailment at Appleford, when a couple of ZKV spoil wagons left the rails near the level crossing by the junction for Appleford tip. This inevitably caused massive disruption throughout the day, with down trains travelling wrong line to get past the obstruction. With the pilot leaning out of the cab checking that all is well, 43030 approaches the site at less than walking speed with the delayed 1B48 17:10 Paddington to Hereford Great Western Trains service. The wagons were removed a little later by 37219. |
