Pre health and safety days at Stratford-upon-Avon on 13 May 1989. Everybody (not just me!) wanders around to get their pictures of 47586, which had arrived with a VIP charter from Didcot. Although clearly nobody is going to get hurt, as nothing is moving, this behaviour, although commonplace at the time, would not be tolerated today. The main highlight of the tour was the use of GWR City Class 4-4-0 3440 City of Truro, which was waiting just behind me, ready to take the train back to Didcot. As City of Truro had worked the train from Didcot, presumably the 47 was used to drag the train back from Hatton North Junction. Tyseley's hybrid Class 116/127 DMU set T332 (53073, 59598 & 53865) is waiting in the bay platform. |
