The narrowboat owners on the Oxford Canal get a grandstand view of 50035 Ark Royal on 4 May 1990, as it speeds northwards past Wolvercote with the 1F44 17:20 Paddington to Banbury Network SouthEast service. There were just a couple of months to go for Class 50 haulage on this route, after which the final locomotives were transferred to the West of England line to work services out of Waterloo. I had visited this location exactly one year before, when consecutively numbered 50036 just happened to be working this train. |
