The secondman onboard 50042 Triumph leans out the cab to check progress, as the loco shunts the Severn Tunnel inspection train in Ashton Gate permanent way yard on 6 July 1990. After attaching a spoil wagon to the head of the train, it left with the three yellow inspection vehicles for Bristol East Depot. Of necessity this picture was taken on a very long lens, which compresses the perspective, making the houses of Bristol a prominent feature in the background. In particular the impressive eighteenth century Cornwallis Terrace on the horizon, with Clifton church behind. |
