A rainy day at Andover on 6 April 1991. 50046 Ajax gets under way with the 1O41 16:22 Exeter St Davids to Waterloo Network SouthEast service. Its was always a pleasure to see tatty old Ajax during my visits to the West of England line during 1991. Not only did it make a change from the NSE liveried locos, but it also proved that there was still life in it, despite it having spent the previous couple of years pottering about on ridiculously easy engineers duties, supposedly because of its condition.
